Cluster Ball – Spinning Bronze Sculpture

$7,900.00

A ball of figures is mounted on a chromed steel rod and base. There is a Lazy-Susan bearing that is inset beneath the concave machined-steel base plate. This allows for the top sphere to be rotated with a gentle hand motion. The mirrored chrome finish reveals a slightly enlarged fun house distortion to the lower side of the sphere when looking from a high-up angle downward, creating a new perspective not seen from above.

How and Where It’s Made
The design and carving of ‘Cluster Ball’ commenced in May of 2020 and was finally cast and completed in September 2021. Bases and patina finishes will vary as the edition evolves.

The original ‘Cluster Ball’ sculpture is made in Chavant wax-based clay. A capture mold is made which destroys the original wax clay but allows for a wax casting, a secondary mold, and lost wax bronze casting. The casting was done at Burton Bronze Foundry, on Salt Spring Island BC.
